Prebiotic sodas are trending, and Coca-Cola is joining the craze with its latest launch: Simply Pop. The new beverage line, under the Simply Beverages brand, offers Coca-Cola’s first-ever prebiotic soda, promising “real fruit juice, no added sugar, and no compromises.”
What is Simply Pop?
Coca-Cola’s Simply Pop contains six grams of prebiotic fiber, 20-30% real fruit juice, vitamin C, and zinc, providing both refreshment and potential health benefits. The flavors include:
- Strawberry
- Pineapple Mango
- Fruit Punch
- Lime
- Citrus Punch
The sodas will be available in 12-ounce slim cans, retailing for $2.49 each. They will launch in select regions and online nationwide via Amazon Fresh by late February.
Consumer Demand and Market Strategy
Becca Kerr, CEO of nutrition at Coca-Cola, highlighted the growing consumer interest in prebiotic sodas, especially among Gen Z and Millennials. “Since many brands in this category are new, consumers were looking for trusted names to ensure both quality and taste,” Kerr said.
The prebiotic soda market has been growing rapidly, with brands like Olipop reaching a $1.85 billion valuation in 2025. According to Future Market Insights, the market was valued at $262.2 million in 2024 and is projected to hit $545.5 million by 2034.
Understanding Prebiotics
Prebiotics are dietary fibers that the body cannot fully digest, found in foods like onions, garlic, and whole grains. According to Harvard Health, they work with probiotics to maintain gut health and may contribute to better digestion, immune function, and blood sugar regulation.
Challenges in the Prebiotic Soda Market
Coca-Cola’s foray into prebiotic sodas comes amid scrutiny. In 2024, Poppi, a competing prebiotic soda brand, faced a class-action lawsuit for allegedly overstating its health benefits. The lawsuit argued that Poppi’s two grams of fiber per can were insufficient for meaningful gut health benefits.
Coca-Cola will need to ensure that Simply Pop delivers on its health claims to avoid similar controversies.
With prebiotic sodas gaining popularity, Coca-Cola’s Simply Pop aims to capitalize on this growing trend. The beverage giant’s entry into this space could legitimize prebiotic sodas for mainstream consumers, but its success will depend on product efficacy and consumer trust.
