Turo released a statement expressing sorrow for the violence and affirming their commitment to risk management:
“We do not believe that either renter involved in the Las Vegas and New Orleans attacks had a criminal background that would have identified them as a security threat,” the company said.

Elon Musk confirmed via social media that the explosion was caused by fireworks or a bomb carried in the Cybertruck’s bed and clarified that the vehicle itself was not responsible.
“The evil knuckleheads picked the wrong vehicle,” Musk said, highlighting the Cybertruck’s role in containing the explosion.

Galit Ventura Rozen, a guest at a nearby hotel, described seeing a massive cloud of smoke and recording the scene.
“We saw a huge cloud of smoke … we didn’t know what was going on,” she said, adding that ambulances and police cars quickly arrived at the scene.
